Job Description: Structural Engineer - Aviation and Aerospace
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Structural Engineer to join our team in the Aviation and Aerospace industry. As a Structural Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the design, analysis, and evaluation of aircraft structures, ensuring their safety, reliability, and performance. This position requires exceptional engineering knowledge, attention to detail, and a strong ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct thorough analysis and design of aircraft structures, including wings, fuselage, landing gear, and other critical components, adhering to industry standards and regulations.
2. Utilize advanced engineering software tools to create detailed finite element models and perform structural analysis, including stress, fatigue, and damage tolerance analysis.
3. Develop and optimize structural designs to meet weight, strength, and performance requirements while considering manufacturing and maintenance constraints.
4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including aerodynamics, propulsion, and systems engineers, to ensure seamless integration of structural components into the overall aircraft design.
5. Conduct structural testing and evaluate test results to validate design assumptions and ensure compliance with safety standards.
6. Generate technical reports, design documentation, and engineering drawings to communicate design concepts, analysis results, and manufacturing specifications.
7. Stay up to date with the latest advancements in aerospace materials, manufacturing processes, and structural analysis techniques, and apply this knowledge to improve design methodologies.
8. Collaborate with suppliers, external partners, and regulatory agencies to address any structural engineering concerns and ensure compliance with industry regulations and certifications.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Aeronautical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field. (Master's degree preferred)
2. Proven experience of at least 5 years as a Structural Engineer within the aerospace industry, specializing in aircraft structures.
3. Strong knowledge of structural analysis principles, including stress analysis, fatigue analysis, and damage tolerance.
4. Proficiency in using advanced engineering software such as ANSYS, NASTRAN, or similar tools for finite element analysis.
5. In-depth understanding of aerospace materials, such as composites, alloys, and metallic structures, and their behavior under various loading conditions.
6. Familiarity with industry standards and regulations, including FAA regulations, DO-160, and FAR Part 23/25/27/29.
7. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to propose innovative design solutions while considering manufacturing and maintenance aspects.
8. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and present complex engineering concepts to stakeholders.
9. Attention to detail and ability to work with precision in a fast-paced environment.
10. Professional certifications and licenses related to structural engineering in the aerospace industry are highly desirable.
